VFXMill.net has launched!

It's alive! Only a select few people have been privy to this endeavor. It began just a short seven months ago. And today we have officially launched!

The VFX Mill provides VFX professionals and students alike the resources to rebuild scenes and composite their models into footage from all over the world. Each location or "Scene" includes one or more 32bit HDR Images, many high resolution textures, videos of the scene for compositing, reference images, and several super high resolution extremely big textures stitched together already for your convenience and reuse!

We bring together everything you need to place your model into a scene from another city or another continent without ever leaving your desk. Pre-vis artists can receive a clients request for a mechanical monster walking thru the streets of San Francisco. Then sit down and choose a "scene" or two they prefer to work with. Purchase the scene and start working on compositing their model into the scene as soon as it downloads. Your client won't believe how talented you were to provided a professional effects shot from another city across the world in such a short time! Short deadlines for artist usually result in hurry up and we all know long hours and quality are the price you pay. Well no more. Just download the scene you like for a particular project and start working on the fun stuff. Focus on what you really excel at....making your imagination a reality.

What's next? Tell your studio manager, your friends, and your colleagues this is the place to look for their lighting, texturing, compositing needs. And don't forget to check back often as new locations are already in production. This is your premier library for all visual effects resources.

Welcome to VFX Mill!

Here at VFX Mill, we are dedicated to bringing you quality imagery from all over the world. This saves time, money, and allows you to create great visuals without ever leaving your cozy little office chair. Need to save time? We can help you do just that. Does your client need an effect staged in a location you can recognize, but need it by Monday? No problem! We offer complete “scenes” where we include HDR imagery to light your CG environment. The lighting information is in the form of super high resolution panoramic HDR images. There are also back-plate images and video included for you to composite your work into. Now what about scenes, where you need shadows on the ground but its a video? Well we have included the textures of the ground in order to allow you the ability to recreate the scene within your 3D package. Then just add your own tricked out 3D model into the scene and composite it into the video. We include a large amount of textures of the area in order to allow you to replicate the area as you find necessary.

Need a location with all the supporting materials for a shot in your demo reel? Look no further we have it all here at the VFX Mill. More iconic and exotic locations are always being added to the library.

We are very interested in our customer’s thoughts, ideas, and experiences using our product. Please don’t hesitate to write us and let us know! Your satisfaction and use of the materials is our highest goal.

What we offer:

  • We offer extremely high resolution images that have been stitched together for your ease and use of the scenes materials.
  • Scenes: You may purchase the entire scene at any given location which will include textures, HDRI lighting, video, and backplate images.
  • Individual HDR images are also sold separately if you wish to only purchase the HDRI without all the supporting materials. All HDR scene Lighting images are over 7500+ x 3600+ in resolution. These are made from a set of Fisheye lens images that are taken in multiple exposers from four directions. The quality far surpasses the days of chrome ball HDRI and your scenes will be better because of it.
  • Our video is taken with a Cannon 5D Mark II camera and or a RED Epic depending on the location. Look for our upcoming locations hinted at in our blog. The Red Epic performed terrifically on over 80 locations coming to you soon.
